    Federal Minister and Chairman Kashmir Committee Shehryar Khan Afridi said that the government of Pakistan has become a role model for
    the world in protecting the environment. He said that our objective is “Go Green”.

    An international conference about the importance of the Earth Day was organised by Youth Council Pakistan in Islamabad. Speakers were invited from Spain, UK and other countries to educate our youth about the importance of the Earth Day.

    Senator Rehman Malik was the chief guest who raised his concerns about the role of international organisations like the UN to bring laws about protecting the our Mother Nature. He also emphasised the importance of the role that youth should play in bringing a “Green Revolution.”

    Ali Muhammad Khan State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs shared his concerns about the alarming situation of environment. He explained the government initiatives, including the Billion Tree Tsunami, to preserve the nature.

    Shehryar Khan Afridi Federal Minister and Chairman Kashmir Committee spoke about the importance of the Earth Day. He said that the government of Pakistan has become a role model for the world in protecting the environment. He said that our objective is “Go Green”.

    Daniel del Valle (Secretary General International University Circle of Spain said that there are good people around the world who want to play
    their role in restoring our Earth. He said that we should not be pessimistic.

    General Samrez Salik former private secretary to the chief of army staff gave his remarks about the dangerous role that we, the homo sapiens, have played in destroying our environment. He said that every one of us should start by planting a tree.

    Shumaila Zahoor Lecturer at National Defence University, Islamabad gave a comprehensive keynote on the importance of media and its power to protect the Earth. She said that media is informing the people but it is not educating them. Climate literacy is the need of the hour.

    Ambassador Dr. Muhamad Shahid Amin Khan Chairman International Human Rights Commission said that a clean environment is a basic human right as enshrined by the United Nations. He said that Climate Change is a Youth Issue because the major portion of the world
    population is youth. They should play a leading role in protecting the environment.

    Lucia Perez (Ambassador of UNICEF at Spain) said that it is super important to celebrate this Earth Day to spread awareness about the importance of a clean environment.

    Dr. Muniba Jadoon lecturer Quaid e Azam University, Islamabad raised awareness about some important points like Renewable energy resources, Replacement of chemicals and energy intensive processes, and changing our behaviours to preserve our environment.

    Salma Kausar Anchor Person said that “Climate change is every one’s problem and yet no one has plans for resource use.” She said that it is a layman’s problem but a layman does not understand it, so an awareness campaign is needed.

    Ana Urooj Student of International Relations at NDU said that education is the only thing which can change human behaviour in a positive way. She said that we should educate the world for protecting our Earth.

    In the end, President YCP, M.Shehzad Khan expressed his appreciations for the steps that the world powers like United States are taking to come up with solutions for the environmental problems.
