  • FIA arrests two men for 'selling Afghan SIMs'

    Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) apprehended two suspects involved in selling and using of Afghan SIM cards in the country's border town of Chaman.

    A FIA official told that cyber crime unit of the agency conducted a raid in Chaman and apprehended two suspects, identified as Asmatullah and Muhammad Ramzan, for selling and possessing Afghan SIMs.

    "FIA also recovered a large number of Afghan SIM cards from the possession of the accused, the duo were shifted to FIA's Chaman centre for interrogation," said the official.

    The law enforcement agencies have launched a crack-down against the elements involved in possession and distribution of Afghan SIMs after the attack on Bach Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last week.

    At least 21 people were killed when unidentified gunmen entered the university in Charsadda and opened fire on students and faculty members.

    Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations Lt Gen Asim Bajwa had said four terrorists that attacked the university used two mobile phones with Afghan SIMs and received calls from different locations, including Afghanistan.
