  • Issuance of health cards gift for poor segment of society: Parvez Rasheed

    Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rasheed says the government has fulfilled the promise of providing free medical treatment to the poor by launching National Health Programme.

    Addressing a news conference along with Minister of State for National Health Services, Saira Afzal Tarar in Islamabad on Friday, he said issuance of health cards is a gift from the Prime Minister for the poor segment of society.

    Pervez Rasheed said PML (N) had promised in its manifesto to provide comprehensive national health services with the cooperation of private sector.

    He said 2015 was the year of political stability. He said the Government has converted the chaos into stability with courage and revived the ailing economy. He said under a policy schools are being upgraded to improve the quality of education.

    Speaking on this occasion, Saira Afzal Tarar said free treatment will be provided to patients suffering from seven fatal diseases like diabetes, cancer and liver impairment.

    She said initially the PC-1 of program approved for three years’ worth nine billion rupees.

    The Minister said health cards will be issued to two million families in 15 districts in the first phase.

    The Minister said transparency is the hallmark of National Health Insurance Program which is aimed to reduce the burden on government hospitals.

    She urged media to create awareness among the mass by highlighting the positive aspects of National Health Program.
