    Christian community throughout the country is celebrating Christmas, an event of peace and happiness today. Many celebrations and Christmas prayers are being held in all the cities of Pakistan.

    Christians started their day with ceremonies in churches amid beefed up security and prayed for country’s sovereignty and prosperity.

    People have decorated their homes and religious places with lights. Special Christmas trees are prepared for the occasion.

    Members of the Christian community will attend special services at illuminated churches where prayers will also be offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan

    Residential colonies were decorated with twinkling lights and stars, and baubles such as bells, pine cones, apples, candies, tinsel and balloons bedecked trees, streets, houses and churches.

    Security has been ramped up at churches across Pakistan.

    Police contingents have been deployed to protect churchgoers over Christmas.

    Prime Minister Imran Khan has greeted the country’s Christian community on the auspicious occasion of Christmas and wished them a happy and peaceful Christmas.

    “Wishing all our Christian citizens a happy and peaceful Christmas”, the Prime Minister said in his tweet on the occasion.

     

    President Dr. Arif Alvi extending his warmest greetings to Christian brethren all over the world particularly in Pakistan on the joyous occasion of Christmas has commend the sincere efforts of Christian community for the socio-economic development of the country.

    “I also take this opportunity to pay rich tribute to the sacrifices made by our Christian brethren in Pakistan’s fight against terrorism,” he said in his message on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.

    The President said that the Government of Pakistan held sacrosanct the principle of equal rights and freedom for all citizens irrespective of belief, creed or religion.
