Renowned fashion designer Maria Butt, popularly known as Maria B, has voiced her support for actress Sarah Khan’s views on feminism.
In a video message, she stated, “We don’t want Western feminism; we want true women’s empowerment.”
Maria B also took to Instagram to share her thoughts on feminism, posting viral statements from public figures including Sarah Khan, Fiza Ali, and journalist Reham Khan, the former wife of ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan.
She lauded Sarah Khan’s idea over the same and showed disapproval and opposition to Reham Khan’s take on it, but without naming her.
Sarah Khan has lately dismissed the idea of modern feminism, which she feels has become too extreme, aggressive, or misused in some cases.
She also encouraged male dominance and traditional gender roles.
Backing Sarah Khan’s perspective, mentioned above, she highlighted that Western feminism allows aggression and extremism.
She also opposed Aurat March and its bold slogan.
Maria B stressed that Islam advocates true empowerment for women by encouraging them to uphold their dignity while showing respect towards their father, brother, and life partner.
Concluding her discussion, she added that the rise in crimes against women is a result of society’s departure from core Islamic teachings, which emphasize dignity, respect, and moral values.
