Popular Pakistani actresses Sanam Saeed and Mishi Khan raised concerns about the glorification of toxic male behavior trending lately in Pakistani drama serials.

They submitted their voices after the brutal murder of Sana Yousaf, a 17-year-old social media influencer, by a man to say no to his advances.

Taking to her social media, Sanam Saeed wrote:

“Strong wake up call for writer, producers, and actors to take full responsibility for any kind of narrative glorifies, accepts or encourages male toxic behavior, unhealthy relationships, and man who threaten to kill anyone if they don’t get the girl they want. Instead, the content needs to show social responsibility and use their power to influence the right narrative now. # Enough is Enough.”

Senior actress Mishi Khan also questioned Pakistani drama writers for glorifying men’s toxicity in their project by featuring bad guys, who are abusing their wives and girls, as heroes.

She stressed that the writers should think that such an action of portraying male extremism in a good way in the drama serials can normalize such behavior in society.

A day before, Aymen Saleem had spoken out against the abusive portrayal of love against women in Pakistani drama serials.

Her statement came after the latest drama serial Mann Mast Malang showed the lead actor, Danish Taimoor (Kabir), as husband, tying up the feet of his lady love, Sahar Hashmi (Riya), and calling it ‘love’.
