The Chairman of the Punjab Board Committee has decided to eliminate one annual exam for ninth and tenth-grade students across the Punjab.

Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies will no longer be separate subjects; instead, there will be a consolidated 100-mark paper on Islamic Studies in ninth grade and a similar exam on Pakistan Studies in tenth grade. The implementation of this decision is scheduled for the ninth-grade students starting in 2025.

The Controller of Examinations at the Lahore Board of Education has officially communicated this change to the Punjab Textbook Board. Consequently, from the next academic year, textbooks for Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies will be revised to align with the updated examination structure.

Separately, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has formally announced that the Punjab Matric Exams for 2024 will kick off on March 1, 2024. This declaration follows a meeting of the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen held at BISE Rawalpindi, during which the tentative date sheet for the 9th and 10th annual examinations in 2024 was concluded.
