Google announced changes in its images portal “to help connect users and useful websites” by dropping its frequently used ‘Vew Image’ button.
Google said, “(The changes) will include removing the View Image button.”
However, the search engine giant will retain ‘Visit’ button which directs the users to the websites where that images is shared. It is done so users can see images in the context of the webpages which they are visiting.
Also, it is removing the ‘Search by Image’ button. It was told that the reverse image search still works through the way most people use it, from the search bar of Google Images.
In a series of tweets, Google explained, “Ultimately, Google Images is a way for people to discover information in cases where browsing images is a better experience than text. Having a single button that takes people to actionable information about the image is good for users, web publishers and copyright holders.”
The world’s most used search engine was under legal pressure in view of several copyrights and trademarks cases. Stock photos website Getty Images had filed a complaint against Google in European courts.
Google has now struck a deal with Getty Images after which their legal battle has ended. Both will do a partnership to benefit each other.
