The Sindh Police on Wednesday hinted involvement of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement's London and South Africa chapter behind the tragic assassination of former lawmaker Ali Raza Abidi.
Abidi was shot multiple times outside his residence in Khayaban-e-Ghazi neighbourhood of DHA by unknown assailants, who fled from the scene. He was shifted to PNS Shifa Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his wounds.
Speaking to the press, SSP South Pir Muhammad Shah said that the investigations on the case has shown that members of the London and South Africa group arrived in Karachi, however, immediately added, investigations on the case are underway.
The investigators have decided to probe with the suspects affiliated with MQM-London jailed in different cases.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, earlier in a meeting with deceased’s father, said that a "significant arrest" had been made with regard to the assassination.
Shah apprised the father of Ali Raza Abidi of the investigations of the case so far and that the key arrest was made from Karachi airport. He said the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
The chief minister reassured Abidi's father that his son's killer would be apprehended.
