In a move that brings unwelcome news for citizens of Lahore, the Transport and Mass Transit Department has announced an increase in fares for the Orange Line, Speedo, and Multan Metro bus services.

Effective immediately, commuters utilizing the Orange Line Train will experience a hike of Rs5 in both minimum and maximum fares. The minimum fare has been raised from Rs20 to Rs25, while the maximum fare now stands at Rs45, up from Rs40.

Similarly, passengers relying on the Speedo bus service will also see an increase of Rs5 in fares. This sudden adjustment in fares is set to impact the daily commute costs for many residents of Lahore.

Additionally, users of the Multan Metro will bear the brunt of the fare hike, with the minimum fare jumping from Rs20 to Rs25. This increase in transportation costs adds to the financial burden faced by commuters, particularly those relying on public transportation for their daily travels.

The decision to implement fare hikes has sparked concerns among citizens, especially amid already challenging economic conditions. With the cost of living on the rise, the increased transportation expenses will further strain the budgets of individuals and families in Lahore.

Meanwhile, there is a possibility of an increase in petrol and diesel prices at midnight due to fluctuations in global oil prices.

Following a hike of Rs13.55 per liter in petrol prices from February 1, authorities are now contemplating an increase in the price of high-speed diesel.

The government has decided to increase the price of high-speed diesel by Rs8 per liter, effective from February 16. Additionally, a moderate increase of 80 paise per liter may also be observed in petrol prices.
