Punjab Inspector General Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar said on Friday that Pakistan has evidence of Indian involvement in the Sialkot incident and ‘most’ people involved in the incident have been arrested.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore after the Sialkot incident he said, “There was an attack in Pakistan, it was an act of terrorism”.

He said while sharing details that It was sponsored from outside Pakistan, it was financed and planned by a rogue nation and it was done by an ‘evil’ agency that is bent upon taking ‘unilateral’ actions.

He also said that the hostile agency was killing people all over the world on false pretexts.

The IG added that the perpetrators and facilitators of the attack were identified through unity of purpose all in 24 hours. He added that ‘most had already been arrested’.

Anwar added that another press conference would be held to present the evidence to the world after it had been submitted to the courts. He did not provide any specific information in that regard.

The IG said that the police had used modern tools to identify the network that carried out the attack and had identified those who had carried out the recce and those who had done the shooting.

He also said that multiple intelligence agencies had worked together with the police and the Counter Terrorism Department to solve the crime.

He said that Pakistan’s foreign office will work with other departments to ensure peace throughout the world.

Earlier this week, unknown men had killed Maulana Shahid Latif in a mosque in Daska, Sialkot on Wednesday. A man named Hashim had been killed while another was injured.

In a statement after the incident, a local police official said that the incident appeared to be a targeted killing.
