Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to reopen colleges in the province with strict implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) from tomorrow (Monday), Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday.
According to the Directorate of Higher Education, all the colleges will open to settle administrative matters including admissions. Only principals and five faculty members will be allowed on working days.
According to the national broadcaster, hostels, offices, and classrooms will be disinfected twice daily.
Regular classes in schools and colleges will start on the 15th of September after a review of the coronavirus situation in the province.
Reopening on September 15 not final
Last month, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood had said that all educational institutions, including universities, will reopen on September 15 if the coronavirus situation of the country improves.
The minister had said that the government will review its decision in an inter-provincial meeting in the last week of August.
Mahmood had said that it had been decided to allow schools to call its administration staff before September 15 and announced that trainings will be conducted to ensure that SOPs are implemented.
He had said that provinces will be responsible for ensuring the safety protocols are followed, cautioning schools to follow the procedures laid out by the government.
"It is my request to private schools, especially, that the SOPs that you will have to follow will be the ones made by the government," he had said.
