The newly-elected members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly took oath on Wednesday after an hour’s delay.
Speaker Mushtaq Ghani administered oaths to the newly elected provincial legislators. The session, slated to begin at 11am, was delayed as MPAs faced difficulty in entering the Assembly hall amid a ruckus.
A ‘lota’ was thrown at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Sobia Shahid after she waved a wristwatch on the Assembly floor.
The KP Assembly became the third house to take oath following the February 8 election as members of the Sindh and Punjab Assemblies have already taken oath and elected their chief ministers.
It is pertinent to mention that the PTI founder Imran Khan has nominated Ali Amin Gandapur for the coveted slot of the chief minister of KP.
Gandapur has not submitted a declaration certificate to join the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and was reported to contest the election for the CM post as independent.
