  • Cabinet Division's new notification issued, still lists Asad Umar as finance minister

    The Cabinet Division on Friday issued a list of ministers, ministers of state, advisers and special assistants to Prime Minister Imran Khan following a major reshuffle in the federal cabinet.

    Although the list reflects some of the changes in ministerial posts made a day earlier, however, some of the ministers who were removed from their posts are still named on the list retaining those positions.

    Asad Umar, who announced on Thursday that he will no longer be a part of the federal cabinet after PM Imran asked him to resign from his post and assume charge as the energy minister, has been named on the list as finance minister.

    Similarly, Amir Mehmood Kayani who was deprived of his portfolio, still retains the position of health minister on the list issued by the Cabinet Division.

    According to the list, the federal cabinet has swelled to 47 members which include 25 federal ministers, five ministers of state, four advisers and 13 special assistants.

    Here are some of the changes in portfolios and new appointments as per the list:

    Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, who earlier served as information minister, has been made Federal Minister for Science and Technology; Ghulam Sarwar: Federal Minister for Aviation; Ijaz Ahmed Shah: Federal Minister for Interior; Shehryar Afridi: Minister of State for SAFRON; Mohammad Mian Soomro, Federal Minister for Privatization shall cease to hold additional portfolio of Aviation Division.

    Azam Swati is being appointed as Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs; Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh as Advisor on Finance; Dr Zafarullah Mirza, Special Assistant to PM for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination; Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Assistant to PM for Information and Broadcasting; and Nadeem Babar, Special Assistant to PM for Petroleum.
