  • Court To Give Verdict Of Babar Awan’s Acquittal Plea On Feb 25

    An accountability court in Islamabad to give verdict in Babar Awan’s acquittal plea in Nandipur power project case on February 25.

    Judge Arshad Malik conducted hearing of reference filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over delay in Nandipur power project.

    NAB prosecutor apprised court that dates mentioned in the case were incorrect as no postponement was made in the project while 14-month delay was written in the documents. He added that the-then law ministry was going to issue guarantee form and legal recommendations as the agreement was signed at the time.

    The ministry green signalled signing the agreement including legal recommendations, he added. Prosecutor said that Uzma Chughtai was witness who will correctly interpret the statement during cross-examination.

    Earlier, the court was ready to give verdict on acquittal plea of Babar Awan but the judgement was delayed after latest development. Judge Arshad Malik announced to give verdict in the case during next hearing.

    Earlier, the accountability court reserved verdict on plea seeking acquittal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Babar Awan after completion of arguments on February 11.

    Later, the accountability court fixed February 20 to release verdict regarding acquittal of Babar Awan in Nandipur power plant case.
