Caretaker Prime Minister Nasir-ul-Mulk has urged the National Institute for Health (NIH) for enhanced coordination with the provinces and for creating awareness amongst the masses on public health issues and diseases.

He made the remarks during his visit to the NIH in Islamabad on Thursday where he was briefed about the working and future plans of the national institute for health.

Caretaker Prime Minister said NIH has a vast potential that needs to be further enhanced to serve as country's premier public health department with its own indigenous vaccine manufacturing.

Appreciating the NIH initiative to draft country's first Public Health Act, he asked ministry of health to expedite the process.

Nasir-ul-Mulk said the role of NIH is commendable not only because of being the real health service provider but also for being a key player in the treatment and prevention of diseases.

Executive Director NIH Dr Aamer Ikram on the occasion briefed the Prime Minister about the working of the institute.
