    President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday conferred the Nishan-i-Pakistan award on Saudi Arabian Minister for Defence Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, during a special investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

    The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers, the military's top brass and members of the diplomatic corps.

    The award was conferred on Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud in recognition of his meritorious services for Pakistan and its people, enhancing defence cooperation, strengthening of bilateral ties and contributions towards peace efforts in the region.

    Earlier, the visiting dignitary was a special guest at the Pakistan Day military parade held at the Shakarpariyan ground in Islamabad.

    The entire country is abuzz with fervour and patriotism as the nation celebrates Pakistan Day today, commemorating the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940.

    This day holds immense importance in the country's history as it reaffirms the commitment to the development, stability, and unity of Pakistan.

    The day marks the adoption of the historic Lahore Resolution in 1940, which provided a framework for achieving the goal of a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia.
