A special court allowed Shah Mahmood Qureshi to be shifted to the hospital after he fell ill in Adiala Jail.

Judge Abu Alhasnaat Zulqurnain granted permission for Qureshi to be shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on Thursday after Adiala Jail officials officially filed a request.

Reports said that Qureshi was suffering from gallbladder pain. Jail officials told the court that Qureshi needed to be shifted to the hospital for tests to be conducted.

Qureshi is currently in Adiala Jail in the cipher case registered under the Official Secrets Act. He is charged with aiding and abetting Imran Khan in illegally communicating and retaining a classified cable when he was foreign minister.

Imran Khan also underwent a medical examination in jail on Wednesday after complaining of stomach ache.
