Acclaimed actor and producer Nausheen Masud passed away after a long battle with cancer, her ex-husband confirmed on Wednesday, with the showbiz community expressing severe grief over her demise.
Masud became a household name across the country with her years of on-screen presence as an actor, producer, writer, and host.
The deceased actor’s performances in dramas such as “Jaal,” “Colony 52,” “Gher Tau Aakhir Apna Hai,” and “Dolly Ki Ayegi Barat” are still etched in the minds of Pakistanis.
Having a diversified personality, she also directed several music videos with great singers, including Shahzad Roy, Junaid Jamshed, Aamir Zaki, Jawad Ahmed, and the music band Junoon.
In a post on Facebook, Masud’s former husband Tariq Quraishi, said: My ex-wife, Nausheen Masud, passed away this morning after a long and tough battle with cancer.”
Showing that both still cared for each other despite their separation, Quraishi mentioned in the post that Masud loved her sons.
“She loved her two sons immensely. They were her babies, her advisors and her eyes lit up whenever she saw them. May she rest in peace leaving behind wonderful memories for her sons,” he added.
Famous actor Adnan Siddiqui, in a post on X, formerly Twitter, remembered his friend who had a “beautiful soul”.
“Farewell to the remarkable Nausheen Masud, dear friend, and beautiful soul,” he said.
“Her warmth and style added magic to every moment we shared on and off camera. Grateful for the memories we co-created. Rest peacefully, Nausheen,” Siddiqui added.
Geo News anchor Shahzad Iqbal, in a post on X, said Masud’s demise was “extremely upsetting on personal level” as he owed her “big time for giving me my first break”.
“I had always admired Nausheen Masud as a VJ on a music show in mid 90s and later she happened to be my first Boss when I started working,” Iqbal added.
“May Allah rest your soul in peace.. Please pray for the departed soul,” he concluded.
