Facebook has announced on Tuesday to discontinue support of its Messenger and app on certain devices by the end of March.

In a notification, the giant stated that it is about to pull the plug on v55 of Facebook app, Messenger v10 on Android, Messenger v8 for iPhone, Facebook for iPad v26 and the app released for iOS in October 2011 and all the older versions.

Facebook is also pulling support from mobile phones running Windows operating system.

Windows phone 8, 8.1 will no longer have Facebook messenger and Facebook for Windows 8 and 8.1 desktop app.

Facebook stated: “Our team spends countless hours making it the best way to message your friends and family. One of the ways we continue to improve is by consistently introducing rich features, like voice and video calling, games, and bots for Messenger. Using older versions of apps means that experiences won’t work well or sometimes not at all.”
