The popular messaging application WhatsApp has recently rolled out a new tab into its interface named Meta AI which is equipped with an artificial intelligence chatbot but the the new addition is not well-liked by many of its users.

Meta — which also owns Instagram and Facebook — added the AI search bar in its social media platforms in a bid to make users opt for the company’s own chatbot rather than jumping to OpenAI’s ChatGPT or any other application.

The chatbot is powered by Meta's new Llama 3 open-source large language model (LLM).

If you don’t want to use Meta’s AI chatbot, what you can simply do is ignore it because you cannot turn it off.

The only way to remove is if Meta does it.

In a statement, quoted by Mashable, Meta said: "Meta AI aims to be a helpful assistant and is in the search bar to assist with your questions. You can’t disable it from this experience, but you can search how you normally would engage with a variety of results."

The Menlo Park-based company witnessed a plunge in its share price, wiping over $120 billion from the market as Facebook’s parent firm has anticipated spending a massive amount on AI.
