After the names of South African duo of Imran Tahir and Hashim Amla emerged earlier, former England captain Paul Collingwood is also tipped as a possible candidate for the World XI team, which is set to tour Pakistan next month for a series of three T20Is.

“Paul Collingwood is in line to be the English representative in the World XI, coached by Andy Flower, which will play a three-match series in Pakistan next month as the International Cricket Council brings top level cricket back to the country,” The Guardian reported.

According to the report, Collingwood, who is still playing for Durham at the age of 41, will be the only English player in the World XI for the series in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, sources have informed Geo.tv that West Indies' Samuel Badree is also in line, along with South African players Faf du Plessis and Morne Morkel.

Source further revealed that Grant Elliot, former New Zealand player, and Bangladeshi duo Tamim Iqbal and Shakeb al Hassan are also in talks for the World XI team’s tour to Pakistan.

Najam Sethi, the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, reiterated on Monday the World XI team will arrive in Pakistan next month to play three matches, which are scheduled for September 12, 13, and 15 in Lahore.

Shahryar Khan, the former PCB chairman, had said in an interview earlier that Michael Clarke, Tim Paine, and Luke Ronchi would also be part of the World XI team.

However, Clarke had distanced himself from Khan’s claim.

The World XI team is likely to have representation from West Indies, Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Afghanistan.
