Former Pakistan Test captain and wearer of Pakistan's Test cap number 27, Saeed Ahmed, has passed away at the age of 86.
Ahmed represented Pakistan in 41 Test matches, amassing a total of 2,991 runs which included five centuries and 16 half-centuries.
Additionally, he contributed with his right-arm off-spin bowling, taking 22 wickets. His Test debut occurred against West Indies in the Bridgetown Test of 1958, and he concluded his Test career during Pakistan's tour of Australia in 1972/73 in Melbourne.
Saeed Ahmed served as Pakistan's sixth Test captain, succeeding Hanif Mohammad during England's tour of Pakistan in 1969. However, his tenure as captain lasted for only three Tests.
