France's football star Kylian Mbappe has turned his back on "several tens of millions" of euros in a bid to ease a possible move away from Paris Saint-German, a source involved in the negotiations revealed on Thursday.

According to the source involved in the negotiations, Mbappe waived approximately 60 to 70 million euros in bonuses, aiming to facilitate his exit from the club as his contract nears expiration in June.

The decision, part of an agreement struck with PSG last summer, is seen as a strategic step by the star striker to pave the way for a possible departure without burdening the club financially. Despite speculation surrounding loyalty bonuses amounting to 80 million euros and other additional sums totaling 100 million euros, these figures have been refuted by a close source linked to the negotiations.

Mbappe, remaining tight-lipped about his future destination, stressed the importance of an arrangement he made with the club's president to ensure the well-being of all parties involved. The agreement, crucially, shields PSG in the scenario where Mbappe departs without necessitating a transfer fee.

The footballer, under the contract inked in 2022, secured a staggering annual salary of 72 million euros, coupled with a substantial signing bonus of 150 million euros and escalating loyalty bonuses reaching up to 90 million euros by the third year. Staying put until June without extending his tenure could have potentially meant a windfall exceeding 200 million euros for Mbappe.

Now available as a free agent come summer, Mbappe stands to command a significant signing-on fee from any prospective club eyeing his services. However, both Mbappe's camp and PSG have remained mum when approached for comments regarding this pivotal development.
