    Intermittent rainfall continues in Karachi on Saturday, as the mercury goes down in the city, killing seven people and injuring several others in various incidents on Saturday.

    The port city received its first rainfall of the winter season on Friday afternoon. Light rainfall continued intermittently in several areas of the metropolis since yesterday.

    The showers are expected to continue in the city till the Saturday night, met officials said.

    The citizens reached Sea View on Friday to enjoy the rainy weather. They rode horses and vehicles and enjoyed delicious food with families and friends.

    Heavy traffic jams were reported in different parts of the city during the showers. In several localities rainwater submerged the roads whereas power breakdowns and outages reported at many places in the city.

    According to the met office an active westerly system has entered in Balochistan on Friday and yielded light rain in Karachi and other coastal areas. Different parts of Karachi and coastal areas of Balochistan received light rain on Friday. Other parts of Sindh may also receive rain on Saturday. Ormara in Balochistan received 2mm of rainfall.

    The weather system is expected to generate more rain as well as snowfall over hills in most parts of the country till Wednesday, further intensifying winter.

    The Met department said the system would produce rain with snowfall over the hills at a number of places in Balochistan till Sunday.

    Rain and snowfall over the hills are likely to start in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas from Saturday. The spell will persist till Wednesday.
