Mustafa Kamal, chief of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) has said on Thursday that Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were as bad for Pakistan as ‘cancer’.

He addressed a press conference in the Sindh metropolis during which he criticised Sindh Governor in what has become an apparent rant between the two over the last few days.

“Controversial” governor broke his silence over May 12, 2007 incident after at least 12 years, Kamal said. He asserted, in response to apparent threats that he did not fear anyone except for the Almighty.

He claimed that the people of Karachi were bringing forth evidence proving bribe allegations against Dr Ibad. Kamal said that the Governor of Sindh was not harming him but Mohajir community in Sindh.

Kamal rhetorically asked if Dr Ibad would reopen the case regarding the violence that erupted on the streets of Karachi on May 12, 2007. The chief of PSP held Sindh’s governor responsible for the lives lost and violent clashes on the day.

He denied the allegations leveled against him by the governor by saying that he did not transfer any funds from Karachi to Malaysia and London.

Kamal demanded action against the governor for allegedly tempering with report of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) over May 12 rampage. He called for ‘public hangings’ of those involved in the incident.

Why did the governor avoid raising voice against the incident until October 19, 12 years later, Mustafa Kamal asked rhetorically. He alleged Dr Ibad of trying to “hide behind” former mayor of Karachi, Naimatullah yesterday.

The PSP chief claimed that Dr Ishratul Ibad would be exposed as the biggest culprit if Baldia Town factory fire case was pursued with utmost sincerity.

Kamal called for immediate action against governor’s dual nationality.

Earlier on Monday, Kamal had demanded Interior Ministry to add Dr Ishratul Ibad to Exit Control List (ECL).
