Election Commission has announced electoral schedule for Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections in Sindh, according to which polling will be held on August 24; hence polling schedule for Thatta, Gambat and Khairpur was not announced, as the matter to hold elections was in court.
According to announced schedule released by Election Commission, the candidates for Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Chairman and Vice Chairman elections can submit nomination papers till August 6 to returning officer, while papers examination will be completed on August eight and 10.
According to schedule, appeals against approved or rejected nominated papers can be filed on August 12, while Appellate Authority will decide on August 13. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers on August 15. Final list of candidates and electoral symbols will be released on August 16.
According to Election Commission officials, Returning Officer will announce results on August 25 and the notification for successful candidates will be released on August 29. Polling will continue form nine in the morning till five in the evening without any break, while Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Chairman and Vice Chairman will take oath on August 30.
Election Commission has also released code of conduct for Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Chairman, Vice Chairman elections, according to which Federal and Provincial government cannot announce development schemes in the Constituencies, while no one will be allowed to misuse government position or affecting on results; hence legal action will be taken if anyone affected on the results and the appointments and transfers will also be banned.
