Two personnel were martyred after unidentified gunmen opened fire at the vehicle used by security forces as it was passing near Saddar Parking Plaza, a few blocks away from the Red Zone area.
The personnel were identified as Khadim Hussain and Razzaq.
Officer Razzaq died on spot because of the firing whereas Khadim Hussain was rushed to the hospital after the incident where he succumbed to his wounds.
Security forces cordoned off the area after the incident whereas evidences were also collected from the crime scene.
Sources indicate that three witnesses were also taken into custody by the police.
The personnel driving the vehicle lost control of it after he was shot resulting in the car crashing into a wall nearby.
