Police found mobile phone of Owais Shah, abducted son of Chief Justice Sindh High Court (SHC), active briefly on Monday in Landi Kotal in country’s tribal northwest before being switched off again.

The cellular phone was switched on for a brief period with its location somewhere in Landi Kotal, Khyber Agency. So far, the abductors have not made any demand against Shah’s release, according to sources.

Officials are ascertaining whether the development could be relied on or was it only aimed to distract the law enforcers.

Earlier while talking to media, Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal said that the law enforcement and security agencies are making joint efforts for the recovery of Owais Shah.

“The government and the military are on same page with regard to terrorism,” he said adding that there has been advancement in the investigations of Amjad Sabri’s assassination in Karachi.

On June 21, son of Chief Justice Sindh High Court (SHC) Sajjad Ali Shah was kidnapped from Karachi’s Clifton area. Owais Shah was abducted from outside a supermarket.

The kidnapping came as a shock to Sindh prompting provincial administration to issue orders for early recovery of Shah. The law enforcers are still on a hunt for kidnappers.
