Questions are raised over police encounters after they killed a student in Gizri area of the metropolis, declaring him a dacoit.
Mother of the accused told that her son Zakaria returned a few days ago from Malaysia, where she said he was studying.
She said Zakarya was set to get married next year and for wedding arrangements he went to an ATM near Teen Talwar area for cash withdrawal after which he was stopped by the police and got killed.
However, SSP South claimed an action was taken against the accused on a complaint. He said that a snatched mobile phone and weapon were also recovered from the possession of the accused.
The SSP further stated that a new inquiry would be conducted for satisfaction of Zakaria’s family members.
Yesterday, the police claimed to have killed a dacoit and injured his aide in a police encounter in Gizri area. The deceased was identified as Zakarya, who police said was involved in street crimes.
The family members of the deceased would stage a protest demonstration after Zuhr prayers.
