  • Blast targets Peshawar-bound train in Umerkot

    A blast rocked the railway track near Umerkot area of Rajanpur district on Tuesday causing bogeys of Khushal Khan train to derail and topple over.

    As per initial reports, explosive material was planted on the track and was detonated via a remotely-controlled device

    The train was enroute from Karachi to Peshawar. Several casualties are reportedly feared due to the incident.

    Rescue teams have reached the site of the incident and police officials have cordoned off the area.

    Last month, a similar explosion took place on a railway track in Hyderabad.

    According to the Bomb Disposal Squad, unidentified assailants attacked the track using 500 kilograms of explosive material.

    The blast damaged around 1.5ft of the railway track in Hussainabad area and disrupted train services in the city. As a result of the incident, trains were stranded at the Hyderabad railway station.
