    Complaining of alleged corruption and nepotism in Sindh, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Senator Babar Ghauri Monday dispatched a letter to Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

    The letter contended that rules and regulations were not followed while making appointments in government jobs.

    Nepotism and corruption have spread out in the provincial bureaucracy, Ghauri said in a letter to the chief minister.

    Discrimination towards the people of urban areas has also been witnessed, it added.

    Later, Responding to the letter the Sindh chief minister's spokesman said that officers of urban areas were given preference while making appointments on key posts.

    In a statement issued here Monday, the spokesman said that Sindh government pays electricity bills of water board and Hyderabad WASA.

    He said that an amount of Rs 46 billion has been allocated for development projects in Karachi.
