Pakistan People’s party (PPP) leader Babar Sohail Butt was shot dead by unidentified assailants on late Sunday night, however motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.

A case has now been registered against three persons including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz member National Assembly Sohail Shoukat Butt. The FIR, filed on behalf of the PPP, claims their leader was murdered at behest of the PML-N lawmaker.

According to initial investigation, police suspect Butt’s personal security guard could be behind the murder and surmised that an old dispute might have resulted in assassination of the PPP leader.

Butt was attacked at his residence in the Manawan area when unknown armed gunmen barged into his home and sprayed him with bullets.
