One person was killed and two others were wounded on Saturday when two rival groups clashed in Rawalpindi, police said.
The deadly clash took place at Union Council 86 between supporters of two independent candidates during polling for the third phase of Local Government elections.
According to reports, a verbal spat between rivals led to gunfire, leaving one man dead instantly.
The victim, identified as Raja Shoaib, a hockey player, was a nephew of former state minister Raja Basharat.
