The death toll in Peshawar firing incident has reached three as another policeman succumbed to his injuries at the Lady Reading Hospital on Wednesday morning.
The shootout took place in Baghnan area of Armar when police launched an operation on a tip-off regarding presence of wanted criminals.
Suspected gunmen opened fire on police from a house, killing three and injuring seven others.
An attacker was also killed in retaliation.
After the incident, locals took to the streets to register their protest against the police encounter. The protestors alleged that police killed a local person in fake encounter.
Situation remained intense in the area after the incident and additional contingent of police was summoned to tackle the protestors.
