Kashmiris in Indian occupied Kashmir as well as in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well all across the world over are observing Kashmir Martyrs’ Day today as the day of renewal of the pledge that they will continue the mission of their martyrs till the achievement of the inalienable right to self-determination.

Occupational Indian forces and puppet administration have imposed curfew in Srinagar and Badgam and strict restrictions in all other parts of the territory to prevent a march towards Naqshband Sahib in Srinagar and protests against the rising incidents of killings.

The joint resistance leadership including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has given call for the observance of the day and the march.

Occupational forces have arrested dozens of Hurriet activists and youth during nocturnal raids in different areas of the territory to prevent protests. Residents told media over phone that they were not being allowed to move out of their houses.

The authorities continue to put resistance leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and others under house detention or in custody to prevent them from leading the march and anti-India demonstrations.

On this day today in 1931 the troops of Dogra Maharaja had killed 22 Kashmiris, one after the other, outside Central Jail in Srinagar during the court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked Kashmiri people to defy the Dogra rule. Thousands of people had gathered outside the court to show their solidarity with Abdul Qadeer. These martyrs remain buried at the Martyrs’ Graveyard Naqshband Sahib in Srinagar.
