Pakistan reiterated its stance that US missile strikes in tribal areas are violation of international laws and counterproductive in combating terrorism and militancy.

London-based Amnesty International (AI) issued its latest report today on United State’s missile strikes inside Pakistani territory, stating that the attacks are resulting in civilian deaths as well.
AI said it had conducted a detailed investigation into two strikes in North Waziristan, yielding a report based on more than 60 interviews conducted by teams of researchers.
Foreign Office spokesman, Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry, responded on the AI assessment, saying that it supports Pakistan’s point of view.
“The missile strikes are causing deaths of civilians in Pakistan. They are counterproductive and against international laws… We have been recording our protest after every such incident in Pakistan. Our political leadership has also taken up this issue on every forum, and now the Amnesty International is highlighting the same points which we have already been raising as our stance,” the FO spokesman said.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would also discuss the missile strike issue with the US leadership in his ongoing visit.
