A day after the former military dictator announced the formation of a 23-party alliance under the umbrella of ‘Pakistan Awami Ittehad’, Information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has termed Pervez Musharraf a “damp squib” about whom she did not even want to comment.
Talking to a private channel on Saturday, Auranzeb said the former president was talking about a political alliance but could not even win a seat for a counselor.
Musharraf’s new alliance comprises insignificant political groups including the Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Sunni Ittehad Council, Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen and others.
The development came on the heels of unfolding developments in Pakistan’s cosmopolitan city of Karachi where a rare ‘alliance’ between the MQM and the PSP just lasted for 24 hours.
Responding to a question, Aurangzeb said the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was being subjected to political vendetta, and it would go the court of the people, “as power of the people was with Nawaz Sharif”.
