Chief of Awami Muslim League Shaikh Rasheed has filed a petition at the Supreme Court against National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) failure to filed appeal in Hudabiya Papers Mills case as per the order of the apex court.

Rasheed argues that Joint Investigation Team (JIT) which probed the Panama Papers case against Sharif family conducted a thorough probe into the case and recommended to the Supreme Court that NAB should be ordered to file an appeal against the closing of Hudabiya case.

The five-member larger bench of the apex court which heard the Panama case agreed with suggestion made in the JIT report in its judgment had ordered NAB to file an appeal against the closing the said case which NAB has not done, Rasheed argues in his petition.

NAB had assured the court on July 21 that the said appeal would be filed within a week but it has not yet filed the appeal, Shaikh argues in his petition.

Talking to media after filing the petition at the Supreme Court Rasheed said that he has filed the petition that pleads the apex court to get its order implemented. He also claimed that the rulers are approaching him covertly to help them avoid confiscation of their assets. I have also asked the apex court to issue a warning to NAB file the appeal in the said case, he added.

Referring to US President Donald Trump’s threats-laced speech Shaikh said that the entire nation stands united to give a forceful reply.

Saying that he has ‘become a lawyer only recently’ jovially added that he has made ‘disqualification’ a part of his petition just to enjoy ‘twin pleasures in one ticket.
