Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan on Friday rubbished the impression that he had developed differences with the PMLN leadership.

"Neither did the minister walk out from the last meeting of the cabinet, nor was there any altercation during the session," a statement issued by the interior ministry said.

The spokesperson urged the media to avoid "illogical speculations and unrealistic comments" regarding the minister.

"A section of media ran baseless news in this regard," the statement read.

"Chaudhary Nisar could not attend the party's parliamentary meeting, held today, due to his personal engagements and this was not the first instance so this should not be misinterpreted," the ministry said, adding that Nisar will present his viewpoint in the next few days on the prevailing situation through media.

Earlier on Thursday, sources had told source that the interior minister lauded the prime minister for presenting himself and his family for accountability, but warned that the party should exercise caution while handling the situation that had arisen after the release of the JIT report.

Interestingly, when a private TV channel, considered to be sympathetic to the government, reported that Chaudhry Nisar in the meeting had praised the government for maintaining transparency and said the prime minister would emerge from the crisis successfully, the interior minister sent it a strongly-worded rebuttal.

In his rebuttal, Chaudhry Nisar had denied the news report and said what he had stated in the meeting was the “opposite” of what the channel reported.
