Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz held an important meeting with Afghan Ambassador in Islamabad today (Monday) to discuss situation arising after May 22 US drone attack in Balochistan that killed Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour.

On the occasion, Sartaj Aziz expressed serious concerns over US drone attacks, stating that Pakistan and Afghanistan should not allow use of its soil against each other.

Both also discussed bilateral ties, border situation and the Afghan reconciliation process.

The meeting comes few days after Army Chief General Raheel Sharif met with U.S. Ambassador David Hale to express Islamabad’s serious concerns over the drone strike in Nushki district of Balochistan.

Last week’s military statement said that General Raheel Sharif denounced "such acts of sovereignty violations" as "detrimental to relations and counter-productive for the ongoing peace process."

He insisted that "Pakistan’s efforts, successes and sacrifices in fight against terrorism have been unparalleled."

Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour was killed inside Pakistan in the drone strike on May 22 that hit his vehicle in Balochistan province. The airstrike strained relations between Pakistan and the United States.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had also condemned the drone strike and claimed that Mansour was not an obstacle to peace talks.
