In a surprise move, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reinstated Muhammad Amlish as Director General (DG) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Amid media reports about a tiff between DG FIA Muhammad Amlish and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Prime Minister who is currently in London for a medical check-up has ordered Muhammad Amlish to continue his services as DG FIA, till he returns back.

DG FIA Muhammad Amlish was removed from his position on Monday only to be reinstated today, after he was forced to leave a high-level meeting, chaired by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in Lahore, where the two reportedly exchanged heated words in the presence of other high-ranking officials.

According to informed sources, DG FIA was grilled by the minister on reports that were leaked to media during the meeting.

Chaudhry Nisar also seemed to be unhappy by few of the recent actions taken by Amlish.

DG FIA informed the minister that actions were only being taken against corrupt officials and elements that had been working to defame FIA and troubling masses.

However, Chaudhry Nisar advised him to let the system work the way it had always been working.

The exchange of verbal debate continued and at one point, DG FIA had to stop the minister from asking irrelevant questions after which he left the meeting.
