    Turkish army chief calls on COAS Turkish army chief calls on COAS

    General Hulusi Akar, the Chief of Turkish General Staff called on Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

    According to ISPR, the matters of mutual interest including military to military relations, regional security situation and measures to further enhance defence cooperation between both the countries were discussed during the meeting.

    The Turkish Chief of General Staff appreciated achievements of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, and paid rich tributes to Pakistan’s sacrifices in bringing peace and stability to the region. 

    Earlier, President Mamnoon Hussain conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz on General Akar at a sepcial ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

    The President decorated General Hulusi Akar in recognition of his outstanding services and contributions in deepening and strengthening relations between the armed forces of Pakistan and Turkey and for enhancing strategic cooperation between the two countries.

    The special investiture ceremony was attended by  Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashad Mahmood, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Secretary Defence and Ambassador of Turkey to Pakistan.

    Later, General Akar called on President Mamnoon Hussain and discussed matters of mutual interest. The President congratulated Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces on being conferred with Nishan-i-Imtiaz (M) and appreciated his services in strengthening relations between the two brotherly countries.
