The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the execution of three terrorists who were sentenced to death for their role in 2014 Taliban attack on Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar.

The three convicts  Ali Rehman, Qazi Zubair and Taj Muhammad were tried and sentenced by a military court.

Advocate Latif Afridi, counsel for convicted terrorists, told the apex court that their clients had filed an appeal against the death sentence, but got no response. He said that he wasn’t given any record of trial.

“We came to know about the death sentence through media. Our pleas were also ignored by the high court,” he contended.

The apex court, while staying the execution, directed Attorney General to submit details of the decision taken on appeals.

“If any verdict has been announced in response to the appeals, a copy should be presented in the court,” it said.

he Supreme Court further said that there was no need to write names and designation of judges of the military court in the verdict.

The army chief had signed the death warrants of all three convicts in August last year.
