Educational institutions across Sindh, Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) will remain closed on Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of the December 16 Peshawar attack.

Balochistan and K-P governments have also announced a public holiday in the respective provinces.

A notification by the Punjab government says all schools, colleges and universities in the private, as well as public sectors would observe a holiday in memory of the martyred students and teachers of the Army Public School in Peshawar.

The Punjab University will also remain closed, and all scheduled papers have been postponed.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government also announced closure of all educational institutes.

The development was confirmed by Sindh Education Department spokesperson, and Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad.

At least 144 people, mostly schoolchildren, were killed in the Peshawar school massacre of December 16, 2014.
