  • 'Ayaz Sadiq won NA-122 through fraud,' PTI's Aleem Khan files plea in ECP

    Aleem Khan Aleem Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan on Tuesday submitted a plea in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) seeking valid record of transferred votes from NA-122 constituency of Lahore.

The PTI leader reached ECP head office along with MPA Shoaib Siddiqui, however, they could not meet the Chief Election Commissioner. The application was handed over to the Additional Secretary.

The plea states that the ECP record shows that 26,000 new voters were registered and 4,600 votes were transferred during last two years but only 812 voters personally confirmed that they transferred their votes out of the constituency whereas votes of others were shifted from the constituency against their will.

The plaintiff demanded valid record of transferred votes from NA-122 and asked the ECP to issue directives to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to cooperate in this regard.

Talking to media after filing the application, Aleem Khan claimed that this time ‘fraud’ happened in NA-122 by-election.

He predicted that Ayaz Sadiq will be de-seated again.

    AYAZ SADIQ RE-ELECTED NA SPEAKER

On Monday, PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq took oath as Speaker of the National Assembly for the second time.

Ayaz Sadiq and Shafqat Mahmood of PTI were the two contenders for the seat of Speaker National Assembly. The assembly had initially received three nominations, but MNA Ghazi Ghulab Jamal withdrew his candidature.

Sadiq secured 268 votes while Shafqat Mehmood received 31 votes only.

Ayaz Sadiq, who was elected MNA after 2013 election, was de-seated by an election tribunal in August this year over massive irregularities in the election process in NA-122 constituency of Lahore. The decision was taken on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s petition challenging Sadiq’s victory.

Sadiq recently retained his NA seat after defeating PTI’s Aleem Khan in NA-122 by-polls.
