  • AC grants time to Zardari's counsel until June 12 for cross-examination

    The Accountability Court (AC) on Tuesday has granted former president Asif Ali Zardari’s counsel time until June 12 for cross-examination of the witnesses in the assets reference.

    Judge Khalid Mehmood Ranjha of the AC held hearing of the case. Zardari’s counsel appeared before the court and said that he was not able to study the record and requested the court to grant him some time. The court postponed the hearing until June 12.

    Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) employee Basharat Shahzaz and other two witnesses were to be cross-examined today.

    While talking to the media outside the court, Farooq H Naik said that he would discuss the acquittal plea after the cross-examination. He said that he would also give a reference of the verdict in the Ittefaq Foundry case. He further said that statements of as many as 33 witnesses have been recorded while three are yet to be recorded.
