  • Political leadership agree on Pak-China economic corridor

    Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that the political leadership from all parties is agreed on Pak-China Economic Corridor, he was talking to media after the All Parties Conference (APC) in Islamabad. He said that the alignment from Gwadar to khunjerab will be completed on priority basis.

    The All Parties Conference was called to discuss the issue of Pak-China Economic Corridor and take the leadership of all parties in the confidence. PM Nawaz Sharif said that 21st century is the century of economic competition. He said that Pakistan has lost many golden chances of progress in the past but now, as all the leaders are on one page about the economic corridor, it will prove to be a milestone in the development of Pakistan.

    “Democracy and political system is becoming stable in the country and politicians have learned the lesson from the mistakes of past”, said PM Nawaz Sharif, “Agreement on national issues without useless criticisim is a good example of the maturity of the leadership.”

    Political leadership of all the parties showed their pleasure on the project. Talking to media after APC, Ameer Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam Maulana Fazalur Rehman said that the project have been agreed on by all the parties with mutual consent. He told the media that the work on Mianwali and Dera Ismail Khan section will be started within this year.

    Ameer Jamaat Islami Siraj-ul-Haq said that the economic corridor will become the source of economic stability in Pakistan. He said that the agreement of the leadership on the issue is especially in the favor of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

    Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar said that government should form a parliamentary committee in order to make the project ‘national’ in real sense. Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali said that all of the parties showed their political maturity on the economic corridor issue and all national issues should be solved like this. Asfandyar Wali said that PM also showed generosity and agreed to the demands of other parties.
