  • Musharraf granted one-day exemption in judges' detention case

    The anti-terrorist court (ATC) in Islamabad on Friday adjourned the hearing of judges detention case against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf till June 5 after accepting the plea of one-day exemption from appearing before the court.

    According to details, the hearing was held by ATC judge Sohail Akram.

    While submitting Musharraf’s medical report in the court, his counsel stated that his client cannot attend the hearing due to ailment whereas he also has security concerns therefore; his client should be allowed one-day exemption.

    The counsel also stated that his client has been granted permanent exemption in Akbar Bugti murder case by Quetta ATC which should also be granted in this case.

    Moreover, the counsel also requested the court to summon the witnesses to record their statements.

    On the other hand, public prosecutor Amir Nadeem Tabish argued that statements of witnesses cannot be recorded in absence of Pervez Musharraf therefore; the court should immediately summon him.

    The court after hearing the arguments of both the parties directed the counsel to submit Musharraf’s medical report and summoned three witnesses SI Dildar, head constable Muhammad Afzal and Constable Hamadullah on next hearing to record their statements.
