Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid.
Hamid had tendered his resignation soon after a special court partially accepted former president Pervez Musharraf’s plea to include Hamid, among others, in the treason trial investigations.
Hamid was the law minister during Musharraf’s tenure and has been mentioned as a co-conspirator in the emergency imposed on November 3, 2007. The court had decided that then prime minister Shaukat Aziz, then law minister Zahid Hamid and then chief justice of Pakistan Abdul Hameed Dogar will be included in the investigation but Musharraf’s request.
